Accessibility help
The Optillion website has been developed taking into account the needs of disabled and less able users. In particular, the use of relative font sizes and Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) for layout ensure that the accessibility tools incorporated into the browser software are fully functional.
Browser Accessibility Tools
Functionality incorporated into all browser software allow the text size (font
size) to be enlarged in order to make it easier to read text on the computer's screen. This
function is accessed in Internet Explorer via the view menu: view > text
size > then select either larger or largest. The main accessibility options
in Internet Explorer are accessed via the tools menu: tools > Internet
Options > Accessibility. This brings up a new window with three check boxes for accessibility
option which allow the user to:
- Ignore colours specified on web pages and remove any background images
- Ignore font styles specified on web pages and revert to the default font style
- Ignore font sizes specified on web (the HTML font size hierarchy is retained)
Please note that than all three options can be selected simultaneously, overriding all the font style, text size and colour formatting specified in the page's markup.
User Style Sheets
For users who require greater control over the appearance of the page than is available via the browser's accessibility tools, there is the option in Internet Explorer to display the page using formatting from the users own style sheet. Using a person style sheet is of particular benefit for users who find a particular text/background colour combination enhances their ability to read text. A personal style sheet can be used to control all aspect of the pages formatting including font style, size and colour and allows pages to be displayed in much larger font sizes than the the text size tools.
